Vitamins B1, B2, B3 B5, B6, B7, B9, B12, Zinc, Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin C, Glutathione, Toradol

When you go to see your medical provider with a headache, in a short period of time, we are supposed to take your complaints, categorize the possible origin and relieve your pain. When I first sit down with a patient and start hearing their complaints, I start drawing a tree trunk in my head. After a few minutes, I am to the branches where as each question I ask, starts categorizing the patients history, triggers, symptoms and what’s actually relieved symptoms in the past, directing me towards specific branches or causes. The first visit is usually an easy one. Patient’s know why they are there and what caused the headache. We treat the headache and they are out the door. It’s just an episodic event and hopefully a relationship was created in our office and they can come back again for something else.

In my years of practicing, true migraine suffers or frequent headache patients have not been a huge population difficult to control. There are so many new medications available, patients have the ability to stay on top of symptoms and prevention is more successful. Whether you have insurance or not, a plan can be personalized. The key for us providers is to listen to the patient. We need to ask all the questions. On a simple day I can see a mild headache triggered by too much phone or tv time, one with allergic triggers, a true migraine, clear to a neurological deficits setting off alarms to a bigger problem. Headaches are painful to the patient and shouldn’t be ignored by a provider.

One of the foundations of our practice is giving our patients a chance to take ownership of their care. Whether a patient is new to our doors or established, when a medical complaint such as a headache is present, we have a quick way for them to deal with their symptoms with or without the medical provider’s immediate attention. It starts with educating them on what over the counter medications might be of assistance but most importantly by offering an IV infusion tailored to help headache symptoms. Whether its dehydration, hangover, migraine, hormonal, sleep deprived or stress related, our Migraine Infusion has ingredients to help relieve symptoms. Once established with one of our medical providers, this infusion may be a foundation in your preventative care or part of a strict regimen in limiting the number of headaches you have a month.

Avoiding narcotics, our Migraine Infusion can help with instant relief or at least improve symptoms during the diagnosing process. By allowing patients to schedule themselves for an infusion or requesting one during their office visit, we can limit the number of visits to the emergency room as well as possible absenteeism from school, work, or home duties by getting on top of symptoms early. Anyone over 18 years can schedule alone with a quick assessment by our staff. Those younger are not declined but have to be present with a guardian and the infusion has to be prescribed by one of our medical providers for safety.

Maybe you have had an infusion by our staff in the past or maybe you are new to our practice. Saying that, our staff is fully aware that you are coming in as a volunteer. Their precision and expertise in starting your IV is a priority to them and their goal is to make you as comfortable as possible by being accurate, quick and painless. If you would like try our Migraine Infusion Therapy, an appointment can be quickly scheduled online or by calling. Walk-ins are welcome and can be worked in as the staff is is able to make quick adjustments to accommodate. If you feel you have a bigger problem due to frequency and difficulty getting a hold of the headache pain, a visit with one of our medical providers may be a good start for you.

Our Migraine Infusion is available to help as well as a list of others for more targeted issues. You can explore our services by following our website at www.beautybarwellness.com. Join our email list an receive updates and discounts on what were are doing and how we are doing it different!

Our Philosophy On Vitamin IV Therapy To Maintain Wellness

Since 2016 our clinic has loaded up one IV infusion to help maintain health & wellness. Our wellness infusion has stood the test of time and is still unchanged. Covid proved to us we were on the right track as when our Covid testing line grew, whether you were an established patient of ours or not, we offered an IV infusion and home patient teaching to get you started on the right foot. Our IV treated patients had quicker recoveries and few hospital admits. As the first year came and went, research about low glutathione levels and it’s possible role in the presentation of severity in symptoms was released. Ecstatic to hear, we of course made no changes to our infusion because from day one, glutathione was the most important ingredient! As treatment protocols changed during that time, one stayed constant with us, our Wellness Vitamin Infusion.

In 2016 as an established nurse practitioner retiring from the county family clinic life and branching off into a more integrative practice, I was taking criticism and comments of fear from every angle. Was I jumping into uncharted waters for our area of medical practice? For sure I was. I felt as a solid, long term independent nurse practitioner, getting up there in age, with a self motivated mind that reads and watches less tv than most, as medical providers we have to offer more things easily to our patients and I was capable of doing so. We have to make it affordable. We have to let our patients be collaborators and not subservient to the system. When it came to the aspect of IV therapy in my practice, I did not want to have this menu of ridiculous IVs loaded with saline and 1-2 vitamins. It is not good practice to increase the odds of infection performing such an invasive therapy nor trying unnecessarily to infuse a sub par therapy, ruining a patient’s veins so when a necessary treatment is needed there is difficulty. That puts a bad name on the industry in my opinion and its raping the patient’s pocketbook. I have to practice and still keep the respect of the medical community that has supported and grown my knowledge. I wanted and still want a practice that is a resource for other medical providers to refer to because they know you are getting a treatment that is superior. I also require a staff that is good at what they do and understands this treatment is voluntary. Efficiency and technique have to be better than the average clinic, ER or hospital.

As we reach the end of 2023, years have passed. Covid is another virus and integrative medicine is on the rise. People are being more collaborative in their health and the importance of vitamins, gut health and preventative care are not scary topics in and out of your primary care provider’s office. Although I still shake my head at the IV infusion cocktails I see online, we are as a whole showing patients how to do their part and take care of themselves. Because it’s the right time, we have added more specific infusions to our list of treatments. These infusions are of course piggy backed on our solid Wellness Infusion but yet, include ingredients that are researched backed and influential in assisting more specific complaints.

It's Chemical Peel Season!

It’s chemical peel season! I’m sure if you search chemical peels, all sorts of products come up and deciding on which type can be confusing for most. At Beauty Bar Health and Wellness, we have treatments perfect for all skin types. One of our current favorites is our Fruit Enzyme Peel, because of its ability to treat a large spectrum of skin types. Our Fruit Enzyme Peel is a medical grade solution for sensitive, dehydrated, mature and/or skin overexposed to the summer sun. The Fruit Enzyme Peel is an exceptionally pleasant neutral fruit enzyme peel that gently provides skin with the exfoliation-boosting effects of pineapple and papaya. Additionally, the extraordinary benefits of Laminara Digitata Algae lavish skin with high concentrations of marine minerals to super hydrate and impart a smooth texture. Gotu Kola provides antioxidant, firming, and soothing benefits. After one treatment, skin is less red, feels tightened, pore size is visibly diminished, and texture is firmer and more vibrant.

Fruit Enzyme Peel:

  • Does not sensitize the skin to the sun

  • Can be used with numerous in-office procedures, including microdermabrasion and steam

  • Can be combined with any of the in-house peels we have in case enhanced results for acneic, hyperpigmented, or photodamaged skin are sought

  • Indicated for all skin types and contraindicated in those with an allergy to iodine or aspirin as well as pregnancy

Before considering a chemical peel, it’s best to have a consultation with your esthetician to ensure that you are a good candidate for this treatment. There are several contraindications that may prevent you from undergoing a chemical peel. Please read and consider all pre and post chemical peel instructions to optimize the maximum results from your treatment.

Pre Chemical Peel:

Discontinue use of tanning beds at least two weeks prior to a chemical peel.

Avoid extensive sun exposure, especially in the 10 days prior to your scheduled chemical peel.

No facial waxing for 7 days prior to treatment.

For those of you who are on an acne treatment regimen, you need to stop the use of Renova, Differin, Tazorac, Avage, EpiDuo or Ziana five days prior to treatment.

If you are using Retinol products, stop the use of Retin-A (retinol) products or applications for 7-10 days prior to a chemical peel. High percentage alpha hydroxy (AHA) and beta hydroxy (BHA) products should be stopped five days before treatment. Always apply a broad spectrum sunscreen daily (at least SPF 30 or higher) and avoid the gym 24 hours prior to a chemical peel.

Do not use aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (ex. Advil) for at least 7-10 days prior to a chemical peel.

Post Chemical Peel:

Once you have undergone your chemical peel, expect to see some changes with your skin prior to getting your final results. Just as there are some instructions you should follow before your chemical peel, there are instructions you should follow after your chemical peel to obtain the maximum possible results.

On post peel day 3, you may experience mild to moderate shedding depending on the depth of chemical peel and the number of layers applied. There can be dryness and tightness of the skin. Flaking and peeling three days post peel is not uncommon, unless you had a superficial peel. Superficial peels have little to no downtime, so you may not experience shedding.

You may develop small whiteheads, but please note that this IS NOT A BREAKOUT.

If you have a lighter skin complexion, you may notice mild redness after a chemical peel.

Do not peel or pick at the peeling skin. You must allow the skin to flake-off naturally. Picking at the peeling skin can cause hyperpigmentation.

Do not apply ice or water to the areas that have been treated. Also, avoid applying makeup on the day of your treatment because the skin needs time to stabilize and rest.

For the first 48 hours after your chemical peel, do not participate in activities that increase body heat and sweat, such as drinking alcohol, exercise/working out, hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, hot shower spray, swimming or directing a hair dryer to the treatment area. Internal heating can cause hyperpigmentation.

Make sure that you are also avoiding direct sun exposure and excessive heat. Continue to use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher just as you were prior to your peel.

Make sure to keep your skin well hydrated with a protective moisturizer. Apply it twice daily or more often if needed to reduce the appearance of flaking.

For five days after your chemical peel, do not have electrolysis, facial waxing or use depilatories.

Avoid using retinols and glycolic acids for 10 days post peel.

Do not use scrubs, loofahs, exfoliating sponges, or other means of mechanical exfoliation on your face for 7-10 days.

Do not go to a tanning bed for at least two weeks post procedure.

If you are on an acne regimen, delay the use of tretinoin, Retin-A, Differin, Renova, Tazorac, Avage, EpiDuo, or Ziana 5 days post procedure. However, it is fine to resume using a vitamin C serum five days after your treatment.

It is extremely important that you DO NOT have another chemical peel until your esthetician advises you to.

If you notice increased redness, increased hyperpigmentation, or crusting of the skin, contact your doctor or skincare professional.

If trying our chemical peel regimen of 6 in 6 weeks is on your to do list this winter, come join us! We have several estheticians ready to help you with a good skin assessment and treatment plan.

Have a great day and as always,

Thank You For Letting Us Take Care Of You!
